UK Vision Strategy

In April 2008 the UK Vision Strategy was published, setting out a framework for improving the eye health services over the next five years.

The UK Vision Strategy is a ground-breaking Vision2020 UK initiative, led by RNIB, to develop a unified plan for action on all issues relating to sight loss and eye health, across the four countries of the UK.

The UK Vision Strategy has been developed in response to the World Health Assembly Vision 2020 resolution to reduce avoidable blindness by the year 2020. The Eye Health Alliance was involved in the development of the strategy and is working to improve the eye health of the nation, a key aim of the strategy.

Statistic: Over two million people in the UK are at risk of avoidable sight loss.
